I added custom capabilities in version 2.1.0 to make the accessibility more flexible. They should have been applied to the default roles mimicking basic post capabilities… I’m not sure what may have happened on your site but there are a few things you can do to resolve this:
1. You can first try disabling, then re-enabling the Ditty News Ticker plugin. If that doesn’t work, then continue on to the next step.
2. Install and activate the Members plugin (temporarily) https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/members/
3. Go to Users > Roles and select Administrator
4. Select News Ticker and then check every checkbox in the “Grant” column
5. Select Custom and then check Grant for modify_ditty_news_ticker_settings
6. Hit the Update button to update these permissions you should then see the News Tickers menu item again.
7. You’ll also want to setup the other default roles based on the info below:

After settings these, you should be able to remove the Members plugin if you don’t want to keep it on your site.
I’ll need to do some more research to see if there’s a better way to go about assigning these capabilities (automatically), but they should have been added along with the update… I’ll have to see if I hear of any others running into the same issue.
Let me know if you have any questions.
