• Feb 2nd, 2018: Working on WordPress 4.92

This is the only free PDF generator in the WordPress ecosystem that I am aware of that actually gives you full control of the HTML & CSS files, meaning you can craft highly customized PDFs.

All the other PDF generators are a joke… even some of the paid ones.

This plugin uses DOMPDF, so if you were planning on home-rolling a WordPress plugin to implement DOMPDF for your site then this is a great base plugin to start with!

Will save you two or three days of setup time.

It is still maintained ?? As in, I’m still here and if need be I’ll patch bugs and update DOMPDF. For now the plugin works fine as it is, so no need to touch it. I won’t be adding any features any time soon though (no free time available).

@shambix excellent! I’ll report back any issues I’m seeing.

I am only able to get my layout changes when manually over riding the pdf_layout.php by deactivating and reactivating the plugin.

Not sure if that is WordPress thing or a Simple PDF Exporter issue. I can work with it if that’s all I have to do.

    Good work again!

@chrisadhome It sounds like a caching “issue”. The plugin always performs a check to see if you have a pdf_export.php in your theme (and in case it will use that one every time, rather than the pdf_layout.php from the plugin).

Keep in mind that the plugin caches your last generated PDF for an hour (if it finds one), that’s to avoid using server resources every time. So that could be the reason you need to de-activate the plugin each time (de-activating deletes everything related to the plugin, including the pdf folder in uploads).

Try to use &force at the end of your export url next time, it should overwrite the existing PDF with the new layout!
If not, then it might be that your server is caching certain files (or you use a service like cloudflare?)

    Using &force worked!

Thanks that saves me a bunch of time, appreciated.
