The page isn’t redirecting properly

  • We just installed the latest version of WP (2.8) for our new blog. Everything went smoothly, but when we go to visit the blog, we get an error message saying the page isn’t redirecting properly. We have our blog hosted in it’s own subdirectory /blog. Any suggestions?

  • Have you set up any custom permalinks? If so, set them back to the default settings? What site and blog urls are you using in Admin/General/Settings?

    Thanks for the response. We have not set up and custom permalinks. We haven’t even posted anything. As for the URLs, we have the following:

    WordPress URL: https://marketingmatters.net/blog
    Blog URL: https://marketingmatters.net/blog

    Is this a forwarded domain? Or is WordPress installed in the blog directory of the marketingmatters.net domain? If it’s the latter, do you have any .htaccess files in the root directory?

    Its installed on a subdirectory of the mm.net domain – marketingmatters.net/blog. There doesn’t appear to be a .htaccess file in the root directory. I’m actually checking with our web site host right now to make sure that the server recognizes an index.php file as a default file. I think that could be the problem. Or at least I’m hoping. If that’s not it, then I’m lost.
