Hi, I checked the link you gave. It says 1200×800…but what about portrait shots? I have post with a sidebar displayed-what’s the smallest px to display in width in the content area?

You can use the Simple Image Sizes plugin – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/simple-image-sizes/ and override any theme default image size with any size you want.

Also, you could see in the above link that the smallest recommended image size for the post is 760 x 400 px and 400 x 680 px for the vertical (portrait) images.

HI again, I wonder about size when it comes to kb. Is there a limit on how heavy they should be?

Also just want to know if I have undesrstood the link correctly. If I upload all my pictures 1200×800 then the theme itself will make them fit everywhere I place them? It that correct?

When it comes to that limit, the theme doesn’t have any, but you might have some kind of limit imposed by your hosting regarding how big a file for upload can be (some hosts keep it on 2MB, some on 8MB, some have it pretty much unlimited) and then the limit on total space occupied by the files in your hosting plan.
Common sense also suggests that the files should be as lean as possible because that affects loading speed. And neither visitors nor Google like slow-loading websites.

Regarding your second question, yes, you got it right, if you use 1200x800px images the theme will generate all other thumbnails of appropriate sizes.

Oh and one more question ?? What is the perfect size on a header picture? And how “light” should it be in kb not to slow down the site speed?

If you mean the size of widget images in sidebar 800×800 size is fine. However the size for featured images added to posts should be larger. Perfect size is 1200×800.

Header picture should have at least 1200x550px. There is no perfect size of image file (their “light”). Please try to keep it as low as possible but try also maintain their quality. Our images on demo site have size about 100-300kb.
