The plugin attempts to contact some AWS hosts. For what purpose?

    Fantastic plugin, extremely helpful! ??

    Our webserver is behind a firewall that restricts access to the outside.
    The restrict-user-access plugin attempts to contact some IPs on Amazon Web Services:

    For example: 52.25.7.151, 52.40.43.31, among others.

    Those connection attempts fail, resulting in time-outs, which negatively affects
    the performance of the site.

    I’m guessing there is a legitimate reason behind this, but what is it?
    What are the DNS Names of the services running on AWS hosts that are being contacted?
    We would need to know that to effectively allow those connections in our Firewall.

    Thank you for bringing this up, and I am glad to hear you find the plugin useful!

    RUA uses something called Freemius to collect usage data, which I use to improve the plugin. The tracking is completely optional and you can always disable it after opt-in. Data collection only happens from the logged-in admin in the controlpanel, so the performance issues you currently experience should at least not affect your visitors in any way.

    To disable it, simply go to the Plugins screen, find RUA and click “Opt out”

    Thank you very much, that clears it up! ??
    I believe the setting is not visible when api.freemius.com is not reachable,
    at least I can not see it.
    The usage of the front end was fine, so no problem there,
    but the admin-panel was bogged down. ??
