• Hi There,

I need some help. For some reason I cannot find certain plugins in the “Installed Plugin section”. I have successfully installed these plugins in the past, but all my plugins have disappeared.

So my immediate action was to try and install certain plugins again. For example, I tried installing “Transposh WordPress Translation” again. This is what comes up :

    “Downloading install package from https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/transposh-translation-filter-for-wordpress.zip…

    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the plugin…

    Destination folder already exists. /home/content/15/10112215/html/wp-content/plugins/transposh-translation-filter-for-wordpress/

    Plugin install failed.”

I also use Pagelines Framework for my wordpress website, in the plugin section, this comes up :

“Activate the PageLines Updater plugin to activate your key and get updates for your PageLines themes and plugins.”

When I click on Activate the PageLines Updater, this message comes up :

“The plugin does not have a valid header.”

I have typed in this sentence in google search and came across quite a few people that have seen this, but I haven’t come across someone with the same problem as I have…

My Plugins editor does not show any plugins, yet when I try to install a certain plugin that I had previously installed, it tells that a destination folder already exists…

Can anyone help ?? I am a Professional Golfer living in Paris and would love to offer a 1/2 Hour free lesson to anyone who can help me.

Thank you in advance to anyone who reaches out,

    Lewis

  • Sounds to me like you have empty plugin folders, so when WordPress tries to install a plugin, the folder already exists and it bails out.

If you have FTP access, have a look in the plugins folder.

    Hi Simon,

Thank you for your quick response. I have always been confused with the FTP access. I usually install plugins straight from the wordpress site and not using folders…

Can you help me find it ?

Your host might have a built in file editor/explorer, you might not even need FTP.

Login to your host and have a look.

That’s what I was thinking. My host is GoDaddy, so I am looking into that now…

Ok. I have found all the plugins through my host. What should I do next ? Delete them and install again ?

Are the plugin files inside the folders? or are they just empty folders?

Yes, it seems that there are files inside the plugin folders

Well if they are there, I see no reason why they wouldnt be in the installed plugin area, unless you are using multisite, or you dont have permissions or something.

I have just deleted the plugin files through my host. And tried the process again. Same thing nothing has changed… Don’t know what to do. Nothing was in the Installed plugin area. What is multisite ?

So you deleted a plugin, totally, then tried installing the same plugin and it says folder already exists?

That is correct, this is what it saying : Destination folder already exists. /home/content/15/10112215/html/wp-content/plugins/transposh-translation-filter-for-wordpress/.

In the Installed plugin section. Nothing is there….

Ok, so I have found the source of the folders through my host (Thought I deleted them, but I actually deleted files of another website of mine).

Deleted the transposh plugin, then went back to wordpress and tried installing it, and it worked…. However I am afraid of deleting all the plugins through my host, actually all the PageLines Plugins that I have, Pagelines Sections and Pagelines Updater… Do you know anything about this ?
