  • Hey, thanks for reaching out on a such serious matter, this is really a big concern for us as well, since it definitely shouldn’t be happening!

We use WordPress’s API for generating your thumbnails, which works flawlessly for all of our bloggers out there (and theirs) as well as big media sites with a lot of images, which is why we are so curious and eager to help you out!

Would you please be so kind and let us know what other plugins you are currently using (or where you using when that happened)? We think that our plugin might had have caused another action via another plugin, which caused you those big, unnecessary thumbnails. As soon as you disabled our plugin, that process was also terminated, thus the conclusion you just had.

Also — what’s the blog in question? We’d love to take a closer look, if possible.

Let us know, we’re really eager to get to the bottom of this, since this surely shouldn’t be happening!

Take care & we’re looking forward to your reply!

    Best,

I noticed this problem because some thumbnails on the Top10 plugin by Ajay D’Souza started dissapearing. That plugin uses timthumb to create thumbnails. i believe it must be related to the problem.

    i also use:
    WPtouch Mobile Plugin
    WP Facebook Open Graph protocol
    WP-United: phpBB WordPress Integration
    Wordpress Flickr Embed
    W3 Total Cache
    TinyMCE Templates
    Taxonomy List Widget
    Search Everything
    Search & Replace
    Network wide menu
    Inpsyde Multisite Feed
    Google XML Sitemaps
    Disqus Comment System
    outbrain

Hey, big thanks for getting back to us, much appreciated, really!

But we were wondering — are you sure that those files are that big? As far as we can see from that screenshot you’ve sent us, those images are averaging around 230-318 KB and not MB.

Are we looking at the same thing?

Also — can you send us the link to that particular blog post that has some thumbnails missing, so that we could have a closer look? I’m sure a solution is just around the corner, so any additional feedback is more than appreciated!

Looking forward to your reply! Take care & have a nice day!

I think i got confused with so many zeroes.
50000000 bytes so around 50MB, not GB my apologies, i got scared.

So back to the original problem then: When i install this plugin a conflict with Top10 plugin by Ajay D’Souza happens because thumbnails on his top10 plugin start disappearing.

This is wordpress multisite install (not sure if important) OK.
The images are all hosted externally on flickr, my media library is empty.
this is one of the index: https://www.nicoblog-games.com/gba-roms/
Top10 plugin is on top showing 10 thumbnails.
When i install related posts this happens:
    https://s1.postimg.org/558cc8g25/zemanta.jpg
    All thumbnails gone.

    right click view image:
    https://postimg.org/image/90bqesz7v/
Timthumb says, the images don’t exist, and i know they don’t they are on flickr, but they work fine with top10 plugin alone.

delete related posts plugin and delete all images from media library:
    https://postimg.org/image/4483n3z2j/

    thumbnails are back.

My theory is that “related posts” must come with a timthumb. So when i install this plugin all other plugins that need timthumb start using related posts version that might be not configured to work properly with external hosted images.

Hey, big thanks for getting back to me, glad we got that initial problem covered!

But I’m afraid we just cannot make your related posts work with your current setup, since it’s just impossible for our plugin to extract the right images to your thumbnails, especially with the Timthumb service.

We looked at everything, did some tests on our side, but I’m really sorry to say that we just cannot make it work. We really try to do our best and to find a way around different kind of problems, but this time we just fell short, for which we are sorry! Hope you understand!

But do let us know if you have any other questions regarding our service or if there’s anything else that we can assist you with, since we’ll do it gladly!

Take care & have a nice rest of day!

Hmm, i think this plugin works perfectly fine with my setup. The only problem happens with the top10 plugin.
If i find a way the top10 plugin keep using it’s own timthumb plugin when related posts it’s installed then the problem is solved.

Well, we certainly hope you’ll be able to make it work, really, but we really cannot dig deeper into this combo of plugins and services you are currently using.

Have you tried to contact the top10 plugin author for some help? Maybe he can give you a hint or a clue to make it work?

Let us know if it works out, we’d love to hear about the results!

    Take care!
