Hi, I’d like to ask if this is the plugin for me.

I have a forum (wpforo), a calendar(Events Manager), and a directory (Directorist) all all of which users can add to by signing up. However they are not all integrated, ie I believe they need to sign up for each separately.

May I ask, do you think with this plugin I could integrate them all so users sign up once and can access all the interactive pages (forum/calendar/directory)?

Some guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

  • I’m not the admin but I use both UM and wpdiscuz (their comment option), and both of those work fine together. I’m also looking into events and directorist for my own project and looking to see if um can handle the registrations without conflicting with directorist. It should work but I don’t know for sure. Hopefully they will answer soon with something concrete.

For now, I’m using wp user frontend, ultimate member to handle memberships and front end posting, but I’m looking to add a multi vendor option so a directory / marketplace option would be preferable. Dokan is another one I’m considering, as I think that’s made by the same ones who make wpuf.

UM is really easy, user friendly and basically handles the registrations. If directorist has an option to turn off registrations they should work together. UMs profiles are pretty cool, light weight but nice enough. Their forms have a lot of options so you can have more than just name, email and password to sign up and register, though you’d set up a different page / form registration per role.

Your site is very similar to what I’m working on so I might have questions! Are you using a directory option already? ??

    Hi @delanataylor @matsp

UM stores user data in wp_users and wp_usermeta table. If another plugin uses it to store/update user data then it should work with UM. UM can handle the Registration process and content/post/page restriction by User Roles.

Let’s see if others in the forum have done something similar and share their solution/insights here.

Hi, and thank you both for your replies. That does help my understanding of how this works.

@delanataylor I have also learned from The Events Manager support forum, which I chose over The Events Calendar, as it would accept recurring events in the free version, does not have support for integrating with Ultimate Member.

Tbh I’m in 2 minds: the Ultimate Member plugin is so well supported in numbers, and with positive reviews of those installations that I am tempted. But another part of me asks if it is necessary when ideally I don’t want to add another plugin.

What are you currently using to register users by roles? Buddyboss might do what you need and integrate with events manager. I think I recall see8ng that in the list. Still looking into it but I’m still spoiled on UM. I need a multi directory option more than events mgr though. I’m going to set up a test site with all of them and see if they ply nice together. Lol
