• Edit: Updated released, review updated
Edit: Authors were helpful and promised to restore functionality in next release, will revisit this review after release.

Original: Aside from the disastrous vulnerability scandal, Update 8.0.31 removed the option to use your own chat server to host the chat and rerouted all chat functionality to author’s server. Being a developer this is a step aimed towards eventually turning this into another useless SaaS.

Do not update post 8.0.30 to keep your data secure and not being processed through a third party.

As for plugin authors: thank you for the plugin while it lasted, your recent changes though shows a bad direction.

  • Hi @yward,

Thank you for sharing your concerns with us, I believe we spoke on the support forum as well.

After further consideration, we have restored the ability to use local servers for the chat service. This means that you will not need to make use of our server should you prefer not to do so.

This is available in our latest version which is once again publicly available on the plugin library.

This new version also resolves the security issues reported earlier.

We do apologize once again for the frustration experienced.
