• First of all, it’s kind of shitty to give yourself a fake review, Irvin Lim.

And is also shitty to remove comments on the support page and close threads because you don’t like people telling that the plugin is broken. What do you win by hiding the fact that the plugin doesn’t work? Just getting people to install it to immediately uninstall it?

And the worst part is that people has send you pull requests on GitHub that totally fix the errors, and those request are just there waiting, and you don’t even care enough to spend 3 minutes fixing your plugin.

I can’t understand why did you even bother to publish this.

Update: You can find a working version of the plugin here: [ Moderator note: Don’t post links in reviews. That’s not what the reviews are for. ]

Also, as you can read in the comments, it was a mod who deleted the comment in the support thread for no reason.

You are operating under some very incorrect assumptions.

    1. Authors can review their plugins, that’s allowed. Don’t call their reviews fake, they’re not.
    2. Author’s cannot close threads or delete topics. You are wrong about that accusation. Either the topics were over a year old from the original post or a moderator such as myself closed the topic.
    3. Support from authors has always been optional. These are free plugins and if it doesn’t work for you then simply use another. You may not like the author not accepting pull requests but really?

    *Looks at posting history*

You posted one off color comment to a thread, it had nothing to do with the 5 months old topic, it was caught in the spam queue and a moderator deleted it and closed the resolved topic.

That’s your complaint to the author? That a moderator closed a resolved thread after your one comment was picked up as spam?

If you need support for this plugin then per the forum welcome please post your own topic.

You can do that with this link.

Although after this review I’m not sure why the author would feel inclined to give up his time and provide you with free support.

Well, in that case that’s just www.ads-software.com forums/plugin directory working awfull and counterintuitive.

I saw a thread marked as “resolved” in the plugin page when the plugin has been broken at least 5 months, so I commented that it was not fixed. It wasn’t rude and it was totally on topic (same unfixed error). And the next day, when I go to the thread to post the solution I found, I saw the comment deleted and the thread closed, without any notification of any kind.

Why would I assume that a third person not related to the plugin decided that the plugin was indeed fixed and decided to remove the comment and close the thread?

I know that plugin authors are not obligated to give support, but the problem is already fixed and he only needs to copy/paste, and this time the plugin is just completely broken, but next time it might be a security threat (this is a security plugin after all), and I think users might be interested in knowing that the plugin is not receiving any kind of support, even with pull requests laying around.

Anyway, I’d have not commented any of that if I would not thought that the author was deleting comments and closing threads. So great work from the mods removing relevant comments for being “spam”.

Also, I’m not saying that reviewing yourself is not allowed, I’m just saying that it’s shitty.

That is subjective. The moderators do try though sometimes people resort to calling people names or using profanity. Try to refrain from the mild profanity, these forums are family friendly after all.

Also consider reading the Forum Welcome, it may help sort out for you how these forums work.

And you were still wrong too.

When you open a topic in these forums you as the original poster have the ability to mark your topic as resolved or not. The plugin author in the same sub-forum can do that too.

It doesn’t matter that you, who is a third party to, felt the topic should not be marked resolved. It wasn’t your topic to say that one way or the other. Your comment was caught in the spam filter and a) was wrong about the topic and b) 5 months later did not matter at all.

As I wrote above, you can start your own topic for this plugin via this link.

As I also indicated, the plugin author providing you support after your rant would be a nice surprise.

    What you wrote was this.

First of all, it’s kind of shitty to give yourself a fake review, Irvin Lim.

You added the <strong> not me, though I did update my quote of your words. What part of “fake review” was up for discussion? It’s not fake at all, though it’s clear you don’t like it.

    Great, not my case.

It doesn’t matter that you, who is a third party to, felt the topic should not be marked resolved. It wasn’t your topic to day that one way or the other. Your comment was caught in the spam filter and a) was wrong about the topic and b) 5 months later did not matter at all.

What are you even talking about? No, of course it doesn’t matter what I felt, what matters is that the problem wasn’t resolved. I mean, the problem was not resolved, that’s a fact. I wasn’t wrong, and 5 months later it matters the same, the problem was still there. There has been no update, and the author hasn’t respond. It’s marked as resolved because some random guy (not the plugin author, not the guy who opened to topic) said that it was fixed, which is not true.

At no point have I requested any support, stop repeating yourself. The only thing I’ve done is trying to help other users letting them know about this plugin status. My only mistake has been assuming that the author removed my comments and closed the thread, what was actually some mod mistake, as stated before.

What part of “fake review” was up for discussion? It’s not fake at all, though it’s clear you don’t like it.

Some time ago, WP plugin reviews by the same plugin author were not marked as theirs. And so there were a lot of fake reviews trying to deceive users who didn’t check the author name. That’s why wp now marks every review made by the author of that plugin. But still makes no sense to review your own plugin, if not because most people will only see the number of stars. The content of the review was not fake, the review itself was. Happy now?

    (@irvinlim)

Hi, original author of the plugin here.

While I do not disagree that it has been irresponsible of me to disregard the pull requests, I must insist that I did not remove any comments or threads of any sort.

I’ve been busy with other personal commitments and haven’t touched WordPress for a while. I appreciate that you have forked the repo and maintained it, and if you wish to take over ownership of the repo and plugin I will gladly allow you to. But I’m not sure if it’s possible to link the existing plugin to your version of the plugin?

I have been kept busy for quite a while and I apologise for the lack of support for the past few months.
