I have changed the location of cache folder according to the instructions posted in FAQ. The plugin writes the files to that location once, but then it writes back to Cache folder and grabs the files from Cache/Autoptimize folder.

I tried even deactivating, deleting, reinstalling the plugin. But even then it doesn’t make the change permanent.

    Any suggestions, help?

    some wild ideas;
    * you might still have pages in page cache that point to the old folders?
    * maybe something is overriding (removing) your changes to your wp-config.php?
    * maybe some security (or any other) plugin is messing things up for you?

I remember someone writing about a similar problem and the reason was (if I remember correctly) that he added in the wrong place in wp-config.php, maybe try moving it around (higher up)?

** I purge the whole cache before testing new parameters.

** I don’t know what is overriding the changes. Maybe I need to consult my hosting provider.

** I don’t have any security plugin installed.

****** I am going to try your last suggestion, by moving the code higher up.

    Lets what happens.

    Thanks a lot.

    You are awesome.

Finally the issue resolved. The plugin is working perfectly.

I made a new directlry (folder) in wp-content, out of cache folder and gave the new name style to the autoptimized files.

Due to the change my other issue, where the Google PageSpeed Insights gives “leverage browser cache” warning while using WP Super Cache plugin in expert mode, seems to have been resolved.

    I am still testing.

I think when you add autoptimized files out of cache folder, the .htaccess file of WP super cache doesn’t affect there.

I hope in next version you change the location if I am right so that a big problem is solved.
