The problem with duplicate pages
-
The new version of the plugin added links ?link rel=’prev’?, in the old version of the plugin are not added. Many sites have no pages with numbers on the end.
My website has a URL – https://site/post. If you add to the Website any numbers – https://site/post/67, and then open the page, the plugin will add a link back ?link rel=’prev’ href=’https://https://site/post/67? – https://yadi.sk/i/xlW-z5xtcU3Eg
The page title is added a postscript: ?post 67? – https://yadi.sk/i/o2_m2LYDcU3H3
If the plugin settings included ‘No Pagination for Canonical URLs’, then ?link rel=’canonical’ href=https://site/page? is the right kind. On this page there is ?meta name = ‘robots’ content = ‘noindex, nofollow’?.
Problem.
If you add a Google Webmaster Tools address – https://site/post/67, the robot will add this address to the index. Competitor can add hundreds of such links. Then the site will start problems. You need to disable ?link rel=’prev’? on sites where there is no such type URL – https://site/post/67
