The simplest directory solution possible

  • We don’t think we require a complex directory plugin/theme configuration, but would like a simple WordPress solution for a directory type setup.

    Categories = Towns/Suburb/Area/etc
    Posts = Listings (which all have an address)
    Map – displays location pins of listings

    The simplest listing directory ever.

    What would the simplest solution be? A custom post type with some sort of map hookup? Or am I talking plugins or custom template stuff?

    I’m a long term WP user but with focus on styling that needs guidance with config options. Any ideas welcome.
