I have not put anything on my site for over 6 months. A few days ago a friend told me that there was a warning when trying to access my site on Google chrome. What is wrong and how do I rectify it?
    Thanks,

I’m not saying WordFence isn’t a good plugin–it is. But unfortunately it won’t necessarily spot all backdoors that might remain. Fixing the visible hack w/o locking the door is simply putting one’s finger in the proverbial dyke. It’s only a matter of time before the site is compromised again. Reinstalling from scratch, examining all files in the uploads directory(ies) for code, & inspecting the database & .htaccess files are really necessary.

Yeah, with a hack you can’t treat the symptoms, you’ll have to correct the cause. If you just slap a plugin over it like Wordfence, you’re on the road to *preventing* future hacks, but you’ve really done nothing for the current hack.

All of the guides posted so far will walk you through finding and removing all known causes, and I recommend going through *all* of them.

It is a lot of work, but there are also some reputable companies in the industry, like https://sucuri.net/ who will do this all for you (for a fee, of course).
