Hello, my name is Georg. I’ve got wordpress site on my PC, Apache is online. I have everything working on my PC, but when I try to load my site from another computer, the theme is not loading, the site is just like without CSS style. I’ve tried to change permisions on content folder, the theme folder… no sucsess. Changing the theme is not helping. The only thing I did successfully is to customise the Themes background color and that could be seen from others, not only me. “https://192.168.1.148:800/wp.Georg” is the url of my site
    Thanks

  • You would need a fully qualified domain name if you want people to be able to access your site from outside your local network. 192.168.x.xxx is reserved for local networks only.

Thanks, So thete is nothing wrong even that I can’t see the CSS ot Theme of my site from another computer from the local network including my phone?!

The site will be trying to pull its CSS from a non-existent local network on each viewing device and computer.

    Hey Georg,

I’m also having this issue. I’ve read about someone editing the hosts file and creating a .htaccess file to re-route it to external, found here:
    https://bit.ly/MJKLHS

I’ve currently got a local install using a virtual hosts on my Mac, here’s the links I used to help me set this up:
    https://bit.ly/nHcWoW
    https://bit.ly/nZGvRe

I haven’t edited my hosts file or created a .htaccess file yet, because I’d like to see if anyone else has got a quick solution to get this working, or can confirm that the first link worked?

Hope this helps? I’d be very eager to see if it does and I’ll give it a go myself!
    Thanks,
    Aaron.

    to Aaron:
I presume that in my case ‘esmi’ has right… Anyway I tried what you suggest without success

Hi, yeah I completely agree with esmi, and with a little research found that she is correct in saying It will try to pull the CSS on other devices from their own localhost.

I’ve been looking around for a few work-arounds to try and get this working, it was a suggestion but thank you for trying. I’d have had a go myself but I’m at work, haha.
I’ll keep looking and if I find anything simple and successful I’ll let you know. ??
