• ERROR
The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads

    DESCRIPTION
I just installed another WordPress site on my server (I have about 5 and they are all working, except for this new one).
Once installation was done I tried to upload a theme, but received this error:
The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads

So I changed wp-content directory permission to 777. Tried to upload again and the same error appeared.

Some research and reinstallations later and the problem was still there.

Differently from the others directories, the ‘uploads’ one is owned by apache.
Changing ownage to my ftp account, allow me to upload files.

    THIS WORKED
Changing ownage to my ftp account, allow me to upload files.
Why do I do not want t do that?
Well, all my other WP sites have the same structure (uploads owned by apache) and I can upload files normally.

    QUESTION
Any idea why this is happening?
Why one site allows uploads and the other do not if they are under the same conditions?

Problem found: PHP ‘safe_mode’ was turned on

Once I disabled this option, upload started to work.
