I have this issue with WP since the update. Everytime I try to upload a new image, the library refuses it with this message:

The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2016/08

How can I fix this? I’ve searched around and the most common (and recent) issue seems to be permissions related. If so how do I tackle it from my end?

    Quick responses appreciated.

  • You set directory permissions using an FTP program like Filezilla.

If you right click on the directory from inside your FTP program, you’ll be able to choose “File permissions…” from the menu.

Okay, its asking for a numeric number inside Filezilla? What shall I put?

And what else do I need to do/select to make sure I change the permissions correctly?
