My site is database driven with MySQL. In order to use the database there has to be a lot of PHP code written. Unfortunately the only way custom PHP is supported is using the plugin snippet. Due to bugs in the plugin some of the things I would like to do cannot be done. Is there a better way to do custom database driven sites in this theme or is it just for simple websites?

    Hi @ldayhoff ,

Thank you for reaching out. I’m not sure I follow you, this forum is for the WordPress plugin Total Upkeep which allows you to create WordPress backups and websites migrations.

There is an option in Total Upkeep to take a backup of your WordPress site database but I’m not sure if that’s what you’re referring to. You mentioned “only custom PHP” is supported using the plugin”. I can’t imagine a scenario where a custom code snippet would be necessary for Total Upkeep unless you ran into a bug during the initial backup process and maybe you’re testing a work around.

“Is there a custom way to do custom database driven sites in this theme or is it just for simple websites?”

Total Upkeep is a WordPress plugin not your actual WordPress theme. Your WordPress theme is what basically generates mostly front-end elements and deals with the appearance of your website.

Again I’m not sure if this is exactly what you’re referring to but if you’re attempting a full WordPress database backup for your website this can be done using Total Upkeep. If this is what you want to do you can follow this guide on backing up your WordPress database with Total Upkeep.

Otherwise, if you could please give us more details on what you’re trying to accomplish we will get right back to you with our best suggestions.

Thank you. I really hope this helps
