I was wondering if I could get some help. No matter what I do I always get the “The username and password provided were not accepted” message. The plugin was working flawlessly for nearly a year up until a couple of months ago. I am running the site on WPENGINE if that makes a difference. Steps I’ve tried:

    1) Changing the GMAIL Password (original account)
    2) Verifying the trust application settings
    3) The captcha link
    4) Switching to iMap
    5) different usernames with and without the “@gmail.com”
    6) Signing up for a NEW GMAIL account – and all the steps above for it
    7) Signing up a NEW YAHOO account and all the steps above for it.
    8) Reinstalling the plugin

No matter what I get that error with a change for the server and pop or imap settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Jack

You may need to switch the “Connection” setting to “cURL”

That worked, thanks! Is this documented anywhere? I don’t believe I saw it after a couple of hours searching.

    Thanks again!

Since I can’t know what is causing the connection issues I’m not sure how I’d document it. There is some help text right below the setting.

In any case I’m glad you got it sorted.
