I don’t log in to the site that often, it’s probably been a few weeks, but all of a sudden, within that time, I am not able to log in at all now. It displays the error message “ERROR: The username or password you entered is incorrect.”, but that is not true. I even went through the password reset process to be sure.

I disable the google-captcha plugin through FTP, and the problem goes away – so the password is indeed correct. Enable it again, and the error comes back.

I also tried clearing cookies and using an incognito window, no change. I re-checked the wp-admin URL to see if it was a false error, and I am not logged in. I tried a different admin account, and even had someone else at another location try their own admin account, and they have the same problem.

I can simply disable the plugin through FTP, and then just refresh the login page after a failed login, which then warns about resubmitting the same data, which I want to do and proceed, and that will log me in with no problems.

I’m not sure what happened recently that caused the problem, other than plugin updates, but I can’t keep this plugin active now.

Now having logged in with the plugin disabled, I reenabled it, did some testing and disabled the plugin again, and sent the website data to you in the feedback popup.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

    Hi,

Could you please specify what plugin version you use and your WordPress version?

    Both are the latest versions:
    reCaptcha by BestWebSoft 1.68
    WordPress 6.0.2

Could you please complete the following steps in order to detect the problem and find its solution:

    1) Activate a default WordPress theme for a while (Twenty Nineteen or Twenty-Twenty) and check if the problem remains.
    2) Deactivate all of your plugins except the reCaptcha plugin, and also check if the problem is still present. If it is not, activate the plugins one by one, meanwhile checking, after which plugin activation the problem appears again.
    4) Contact us back with information about the results.

Well I guess we’ll just have to blame it on a plugin conflict, because no, I can not do any of that. This is a live site and we are not turning everything off just to test your plugin, and I don’t have a testing area set up anymore.

I’m sure it works perfectly fine when there is nothing else on the site. Whatever it’s incompatible with, I don’t have the time to test for.
