    Hi.

    The whole message is this.

The wordfence / wordfence.php plugin has been disabled due to an error. The plugin does not have a valid header.

I did what on previous occasions.

I renamed the wordfence directory via FTP, reinstalled and reconnected to Wordfence Central.

I can safely say that this is the third time it has happened, but it may be some more. Always in the same domain.

I see it when I wake up in the morning, so it may be off all night or I don't know for how many hours.

Now I am doing a scan.

Is there a way to avoid that?

    Thank you.

    Hi @vitodumas

Are you installing Wordfence from the Search Plugins… input field on the Plugins >> Add New page?

Or, are you uploading a ZIP file of the plugin using the Upload Plugin button on the Plugins >> Add New page?

Or, are you uploading the plugin via FTP to your WordPress file system?

    Hi.

I always do it this way …

…from the Search Plugins… input field on the Plugins >> Add New…

    I’m doing it wrong?

Right now it gives me a yellow notice that there is an update available for a plugin, but when I click on it it does not go anywhere, and in “Analyze” it says “No new problems found” Now I found that the notice can be cleared.

I don’t remember where a diagnosis could be made.My memory is not good and Wordfence has many options. Bad combination.

Sorry to bother you with this.

    Regards.

    Hi @vitodumas

    Thank you for the update.

As you say that it has happened more than once then it appears that it is most likely due to a faulty update of Wordfence.

If you are not sure what to do with the instructions below then your hosting provider should be happy to help you.

I recommend that you delete the Wordfence directory located below in your WordPress file system:

    ~/wp-content/plugins/wordfence

Then upload Wordfence via FTP manually into the plugins directory and activate Wordfence on the WordPress Plugins >> Installed Plugins page.

That may also fix the Click here to update now link in the Wordfence scan result saying that a plugin update is available. If it doesn’t fix it then that would indicate the WordPress is malfunctioning and you can ask your hosting provider to look at all of the available error log files on the hosting server.
