The www.ads-software.com website loads very slowly with Firefox

    I prefer to use Firefox (Windows 10) but most pages on this www.ads-software.com website load very slowly (20-30 seconds or longer) compared to when I use Google Chrome which loads all pages almost instantly. The only way I can get Firefox to work is to shift+click on the reload icon which skips trying to load anything from the browser cache. While waiting for pages to load I see “Waiting for google-analytics.com” at the bottom of the browser.

    Is there a setting I can make to my Firefox browser that would help speed things up? I wonder if Google is intentionally trying to cripple Firefox to push its own product?

    I know this is not a Firefox support forum. But perhaps some visitors here use Firefox and have discovered a workaround that works for this website. For now I just shift-click on the reload button whenever I navigate to any page on this website (including right after I press Submit on this post).

    Edit: After pressing Submit I decided to wait to wait to see how long it would take to load on its own and gave up after 3 minutes. After the “Waiting for google-analytics.com” popped up a few times I was presented with a white screen. Only after pressing shift+Reload did this page with my added post display.

    I can’t see a difference in load times between FF and Chrome. Both are pretty fast, though wp.org does tend to wobble a bit from time to time. I suggest you try FF in “safe mode”, without any extensions loaded.

    Tried Safe Mode and it made no difference. I only have 2 plugins activated anyway (a password manager and default bookmark folder addon).

    Tried turning off a few security features and that didn’t help either.

    Oh well, I’ll just keep Shift-clicking the reload button when moving between pages.

    It’s not my WP website that loads slowly … <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>it’s yours</span>. It’s <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>THIS website</span> and all its pages that load slow as molasses with Firefox unless I press Shift+Reload to force the browser to not use whatever’s been cached.

    When I first started visiting the www.ads-software.com website I thought it was a problem with it being hosted on poor servers. Then I discovered that it works fine with Chrome (what I prefer not to use) and can be cured when using Firefox by always doing a hard refresh when moving from one page to another. It always hangs with a waiting for google-analytics message at the bottom of the screen and frequently results in a blank white screen after 1-2 minutes … or until I press shift+reload and all proceeds fine.

    PS: my own WordPress websites load just fine with Firefox,

    I thought that’s what you meant, but I wasn’t sure. In any case, I can’t see a diff between FF and Chrome on wp.org. If you see it hanging for Google, that’s a 3rd party site.

    The “Waiting for google-analytics.com” that’s displays at the bottom of the Firefox browser when it stalls is part of the wp.org website (not a 3d party) and is used by wp.org to track user info and interaction with its website. I don’t care that it’s collecting data on visitors. But it doesn’t seem to be playing nice with Firefox (perhaps intentionally by Google). It will happen when I press submit on this post.

    No big deal. I was just fishing for a simple fix (changing a setting) with Firefox to avoid having to hard refresh the pages when navigating around wp.org. I’ve spent too much effort on this already (you too <g>) …. so I’ll put this topic to bed.

    I know … I promised not to fuss with this anymore. But I found an answer (perhaps “the” answer).

    The Firefox browser has been blocking all trackers including Google Analytics by default since 1999.

    The workaround is to click on the shield icon to the left of the link in the nav bar and turn off “Enhanced Tracking Protection”.

    So that might explains part or all of what I have been experiencing when using Firefox with the www.ads-software.com website.
