    I have gotten this error message on the Popular posts widget on my website

    Important notice for administrators: The WordPress Popular Posts “classic” widget is going away!

    This widget has been deprecated. Please replace it with the WordPress Popular Posts block or the wpp shortcode as soon as possible.

    The issue is that I can’t add the popular posts block to the homepage of my website (not sure how to customize the homepage of my website so that I can add blocks instead of widgets to the sidebar).

    Please help!

    The current WPP widget is in your sidebar (which appears on all pages), so why do you want to put the block version somewhere else? This belongs in the sidebar!

    Go to APPEARANCE => SIDEBAR… add the “WordPress Popular Posts” block, and remove the existing “WordPress Popular Posts” classic widget. This should not involve editing or making any changes to your homepage.

    If you still need help with this, you may post in the “WordPress Popular Posts” plugin’s own support forum, so the plugin’s author and user community can assist you: https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wordpress-popular-posts/

    Good luck!

    Thank you! I dont have an appearance > side bar though. The only options I have when I hover over appearance is themes, customize, widgets, menus, header and install plugins. Neither of these tabs allow me to add the “WordPress Popular Posts” block

    Hi there, developer of the WordPress Popular Posts here ??

    @barefootminimalists you can find it on Appearance > Widgets. You’ll find your site’s sidebar(s) there and the widget(s) it/they use as well.

    @gappiah is right though, it’s probably best if you posted on WPP’s support forum instead so I’ll see you there if you still need help.

    Go to APPEARANCE => SIDEBAR

    Oops! ??

    Hi Hector! Thank you. How do I add the popular posts block that I actually need? I’m just not seeing a way to add it.. When I look at my widgets I am only seeing the ‘WordPress Popular Posts’ (it doesn’t have classic in the name but I am still seeing the error message). How do I replace it with the correct block?? Here you can see the popular posts widget: https://imgur.com/a/JsnZPE4

    Hey @barefootminimalists,

    Looks like you’re using a very old WordPress version on your website, or that you have the Classic Widgets plugin installed on it. That’s why you can’t find the WordPress Popular Posts block ??

    Anyways, please open a new topic on WordPress Popular Posts’ Support Forum (you can simply copy & paste your last message and give it a title like “How do I migrate from the classic widget to the block or the shortcode?”) and we’ll take it from there.
