‘The WP readme.html file is not .htaccess protected’ is the only thing that is in red in the security status area.

I think installing Better WP Security has caused this. Or perhaps using cloudflare. Both I activated within the last few days.

Is there anything I can do to solve this while keeping both plugins?

In my current root htaccess file the first line of code is:

    # BULLETPROOF .49.5 >>>>>>> SECURE .HTACCESS

(Server tweaks is also disabled in bwps settings)

    # BULLETPROOF .49.5 >>>>>>> SECURE .HTACCESS at the top means BPS wrote the file, but maybe BWPS has over-written part of that and has thereby exposed even more than the WP readme.html file you can actually delete, if you wish. At my own sites, I use BPS to lock htaccess at 0404 so it cannot be overwritten…but maybe BWPS is unlocking it? And overall, I would doubt you actually need two plugins writing htaccess.
