I got confused reading all the threads about this, so can you please give me a simple solution to how the form filler’s email gets included in the ‘From’ field?

Or are you saying this can no longer be done because of spam issues?

Is the simplest thing to use the same email as in the ‘To’ field and simply include their email address in the body of the form in this way: From [your-name] <[your-email]>

Thank you. Clarity around this will help a lot of people!

  • Just an observation…

This may not be the correct syntax depending on your CF7 form fields:
    Reply-to: [your name] <[your email]>

The defaults have – in between:
    Reply-to: [your-name] <[your-email]>

@lewisevans777 – glad it helped you. If this resolves your question, it helps others contributing here, if you can flag your post as [resolved]

@andrew.Bloom – I believe you can use any of the following:

    Reply-to: [your name] <[your email]>

    Reply-to: [your name] - <[your email]>

    Reply-to: <[your email]>

    Reply-to: [your email]

I understand these are all are valid email syntax.

When I put [your-name] <[your-email]> in the additional headers, ? get syntax errors, with or without dashes between the words.

You probably need to make both [your-name] and [your-email] required fields in your form – see https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/additional-headers-reply-to.

The easy solution (to date) for emails being marked as spam to the site owner, was to whitelist the actual email address from the server to the client. Click click they are done. Then none of the following form submissions are set to spam.

The form still works as it did before the update.

The only change is NOW you get a warning.
    Period that is it.

    Read the page.

The plugin will still work exactly as it did before this update. As far as I can tell.

There seems to be no need to change anything, if it was working before this update.

I bet the author, who is awesome for creating this plugin to begin with, will make many more improvements with this validation process and create better documentation.
