the_title() does not display European characters?

I write my blog in Swedish, and can’t figure out why my ‘?’, ‘?’ & ‘?’ characters won’t display in my blog’s post titles.

Looking at the post that should be titled Leander, prylf?rs?ljare: In both Firefox and IE, the post title reads “Leander, prylfrsljare”. In the browser window title, the list of latest posts in the sidebar and in the link from the previous entry, however, the ‘?’ and ‘?’ does show.

I haven’t changed any encoding settings, it’s still UTF-8. I tried typing & ouml ; (spaces removed) etc in the title field, which didn’t work. I’m at a loss as to what could be the cause.
