• Hi, am trying to customize the theme but when I use a child theme the layout breaks. Is there a specific way to use a child theme with it?

  • Hello @jozephor,

Thank you so much for using support forum for the query.

CoverNews has 4+ child theme available in the directory. You can also use them if you faced the trouble creating the child theme.

    https://www.ads-software.com/themes/newsport/
    https://www.ads-software.com/themes/newswords/

Choose any of the child theme and use it. Hope, this will help you in effective and easy way.

Thanks. One more thing, though this is basic stuff. How can I enable custom post types support for different sections of the theme such as the slider and featured areas?

Note: I have custom post types added by a plugin but the theme doesn’t pick them up.

    Hello Hello @jozephor,

Actually custom post type is not necessary to use slider and featured areas. You need,
    1. Posts with Featured Image ( Go to the admin dashboard > Posts and Add New Post )
    2. Next, go to the Appearance > Customize < Front Page Options and check the settings.

All the sections are managed via Widgets and Customizer. Please check this documentation to know more about the theme.

    Thank you

I have always been interested in this. I think Jozephor is asking the same question I posted 5 months ago. i.e. I have several custom post types and there is no way for CoverNews to recognize anything but WordPress standard posts, so my custom post types cannot be displayed in the theme.

What I will be attempting is either make a hybrid of CoverNews and some Elementor Pro / Anywhere Elementor Pro blocks for my custom post types, or an entirely new home page with Elementor blocks, appearing a lot like CoverNews.

I don’t know how to use PHP so that is my only option. It would be a tasty upgrade for CoverNews to offer custom post type compatibility. That’s a version I would pay for.

Since theme does not offer such functionality for custom post type, but you can customize the theme using child theme functions/template overwrite approach. For that, you may need to use/hire expert WordPress developer.

But definitely, we will add the feature request to our product update milestone so that our developer team can start feasibility study on that.
