    Hello,

I downloaded and ran Theme Check (Version 20160523.1 | By Otto42, pross) to make sure I hadn’t introduced any errors in my child theme. Among the messages it threw out were these three:

REQUIRED: The theme must not use the <title> tags.
REQUIRED: The theme must not call to wp_title().
REQUIRED: No reference to add_theme_support( "title-tag" ) was found in the theme.

That’s in Sorbet’s header.php file, as well as my child theme copy. I can fix for my child theme, but thought I’d check first if you were doing anything with Sorbet itself.

  • Hi @yorkshirelad!

The theme review points that Theme Check uses reflect the current theme review process, and how themes are made for WordPress, which is updated continuously over time.

The standards for brand new themes that are being submitted to www.ads-software.com now (which is what this plugin checks) are different than they were when Sorbet came out back in 2014 – so the plugin will pick up some things like the one’s you’ve noticed.

The change regarding title tags for existence came about in late 2014:

    Title Tags in 4.1

Sorbet was released in January of that year, so it won’t reflect that process because it came out before the change was made.

Thanks Chad – I’ve updated my child theme header.php and all now is well.
