Theme choices

I am struggling a bit with choosing how to construct my website. I am a complete noob with limited coding experience. I need something simple. I was attracted to wordpress because of all the plugins that make life easy. I need something good for a noob.

What is the best paid themes/frameworks for building an online course website?

Or, can I just buy any theme/framework and use plugins to make it work the way I want? For example, should I buy a Woo theme or studio press theme and then just use plugins for the things I need to do. Or, do I have to be very careful with the theme I choose?
