Hi, So i made my first multisite and it seemed to work well although I noticed the theme I created is not the same from the main first site. I created a child theme of the wordpress twenty eleven theme. It all works fine on the original website but the additional multisites I create appear to be the default CSS before I modified it.

Also, I noticed I can only edit the CSS from the network admin area, which appears to not allow me to re-edit each individual multisite.

    Thanks,
    Josh

Are you sure you activated the child theme on the subsites?

Yup, that’s true. You would use a plugin like the CSS editor in Jetpack to control that.

Thanks for the fast reply, was away and didn’t get a chance to check until now..

Yeah, the child theme automatically transferred to the subiste. The title of the theme being used says – child theme like the main site.

Thats kind of annoying that i cant use the regular editor in wordpress but I can download that if I cant get the child theme the same on both sites.

    Thanks,

The editor is restricted because if MULTIPLE sites use the same theme, and one site edited the theme, everyone would get the changes.

View the source of the child site and check the style.css link. It’s pointing to your child theme folder? Also open that link and verify the changes are in there ??

yeah, i just figured that when it copies the child theme that it copies the same styles.css file rather than a different one i guess.

well, i ended up needing to add some more CSS to the styles.css file to get the changes to update on the subsites. Not sure why since the main site was fine without those css rules. But anyways it is working great now thanks for the help.
