I am new at this, so I hope you can help me with this.

I downloaded the WP-1 Sunset theme for a blog. I had someone set it up for me (he never really worked in WordPress). My question is this: On my About Me page and on the page that has “latest most recent blog”, the words “Theme Demo” appear in the middle of the blog pages. I have been trying to figure out how to get rid of them. It looks terrible!

Can someone tell me how to correct this problem? I looked through some widgets and plugins, but I am really at a loss as to what to do. HELP!!

    Thank you.

  • Yes, tranquil reflections looks nice and you can certainly use it, and you can get help here. This page explains how to use a different theme:

You should be able to do the above without your host’s help. Where is your site hosted?

The Securi site did not seem to have any details about what the “blacklisted” means or where it came from. It may have come from that theme.

Try changing themes and then scan it again and see if it’s cleared up (hopefully that will do the trick).

@wpyogi, My site is hosted with Name.com. Will the Tranquil Reflections allow me to add links and ads and other things?

Yes, you should be able to do pretty much whatever you want — the limits are generally your knowledge, time, and/or ability to learn what you need to in order to do whatever customizations you want.

I’m not familiar with that theme, so I can’t specifically say, but try it out and see what you think. Some themes are more user-friendly than others and some may have more built-in options which can be helpful. You might also want to look at how widely used a theme is — as that can make a difference in how familiar people here are with it and/or how much specific information there is about various modifications. One theme that is really well-regarded and has excellent support from the developer is “Responsive.” But there are many, many other really great themes as well. You might just read through the forums here to get an idea — or look on the theme pages for the questions posted about that theme.

Whatever theme you pick, if you want to do any changing of theme files, be sure to read up on and create a child theme before doing anything. That way, you won’t lose all your changes when the theme is updated.

Thank you all! You have helped me immensely. Well, I downloaded the Grey Opaque. It’s not that bad. Trying to figure out some things that aren’t quite working right. I will be back if I have some problems, if that is okay.

You all have a wonderful weekend.

@wpyogi, just a quick question again. I did as you all suggested and downloaded a new theme (Grey Opaque), and WP – I ran through the site check you listed above (sitecheck secure) and it still came back as blacklisted and I don’t know why. It’s a brand new site that I just started and I can’t understand why it’s blacklisted. Do you know what I can do?
