Interesting – there could be any number of hosts they are using. Do hosts micromanage the particulars of WordPress?

I for instance use bluehost, and the problem came up with me as well, after switching from Inmotion. It just didn’t seem likely that a host would presume to alter a WordPress install.

Server configuration changes can – and often do – affect WordPress sites. Contact your hosts.

If the issue is being caused by a server configuration change, then the only solution is going to be to change the server’s configuration. And for that, you need to speak to your hosts – whether you feel like you have the patience or not.

I have all the patience in the world ?? But my users don’t like the idea of having to babysit the theme. For me I have to move the files in question to a directory (like content directory) which does not have this issue.

This is highly unlikely to be a theme issue. It’s a server one. chances are that, if you move the folder, then that too may get blocked – unless you first find out why access is being blocked

Bear in mind that, following the recent spate of brute force attacks – many hosts have been tightening up their server security. In such situations, they can go a little too far and end up stopping some sites from working effectively. With luck, all it takes is a little extra tweaking at their end to resolve the problem.
