• I successfully installed WP and got a theme working. Then I inserted different URLs for the redirect part in the admin.

Now the theme is only there in basic text, but the look and function is totally gone and it looks nothing like it’s supposed to.

Now my Password for Admin doesn’t work. Possibly because I was fiddling too much and reset my password and also I tried to reinstall WP on my server.

Hope this makes sense…any advice? I just installed it, so there’s no postings so I can reinstall if need be with no problems of losing content. But how do I do that or how can I restore things to normal?

  • well, for starters,

Then I inserted different URLs for the redirect part in the admin.

those arent redirects, and theyre not really to be messed with unless you are MOVING wordpress

at this point youre better off to just delete the wordpress files, and start over.

you can use your old wp-config.php, BUT you will want to edit it and use another prefix — look for wp_ inside the file. change THAT to something else.

    ok, that’s fine.

How do I clear the “old database tables” as it says for reinstall?

Also, for changing the prefix, does this mean I’d have to change it on every single file also or do I just have to do it in the wp-config?

Ok, I actually got it going again. It might have been changing the prefix.
    Thanks!

It might have been changing the prefix.

Indeed, thats what you do when you need to use new tables, and the old tables are still there.
