theme has returned to all default options!

my client says that all he’s done is regular updates, no other changes, and now evolve has returned to its default settings (i.e. content boxes say ‘beautifully simple’ and stock photography in slider, etc). Has anyone else seen this happen? can you help me get it all back to where it was? very weird and frustrating.
