• Hello,

I have just taken over a WordPress site and have no previous experience with it. I need to modify the subnav on the site, and although I have successfully done it modifying the stylesheet and the header.php file, I have not been able to figure out where to access the theme images in order to update these. So, the subnav is using a background image [background: url(images/bg-subNav.png)], but I can’t find a folder on the admin with the images for the theme. I have searched the web with this question without any success … can someone help :/ Thank you!

  • Hi Aarmida,

There should be an image folder in the same level with the stylesheet and header.php files.

The url suggests the image is in this folder wp-content/themes/images

I don’t think though, that you have access to that through the dashboard, you would need to use FTP.

Yes one need to use ftp

Thanks for the info! I haven’t been able to access the site through FTP. I have just tried using the FTP service I normally use for all my other non-WordPress sites (Espresso). Do I need to add some type of permission or access from the site for FTP? I am kind of lost with this ??

You need to ask your hosting company about FTP issues.

Alternatively, upload the image to the media library and modify the CSS to use that URL.
