• I was using ZeroGravity theme and had problems with Ad Zone settings… couldn’t get auto insert to work for a banner at top of page (nothing showed up).

Switched to CorpoBox Lite and hey Presto ads showed up where they should .. except .. I don’t want them on the home page. I set all the Ad Zones (3) to ‘none’ but am still seeing Ad Places on the home page.

I haven’t added any real ads yet I’m just testing the plugin and getting it set up.

Any ideas how to keep ads off the home page?

and/or what is the best theme to work with this plugin?

All ideas are appreciated, thank you.

Usually the auto embedding works properly with any standard themes and frameworks. The exception is the framework “Warp”, because it uses its own cycles instead of the standard WordPress cycles.

If possible, describe the problem in more detail.

Thank you for your prompt response minimus … I appreciate it.

I’m new to this plugin so I was carefully following your directions in this post step by step … https://www.simplelib.com/archives/wordpress-plugin-simple-ads-manager/

I would like to have ads auto-embedded on all posts, and on some pages, but not on the home page.

I installed & activated the plugin, created 3 Ads Places (Top of Post, Sidebar, and Bottom of Post), and then created 3 Ads Zones – so that I could select which pages & posts the Ads Places would appear.

In the Ads Zones I left the default settings alone except for “Home Page Ads Place” which I set to ‘none’.

I saved the settings and thought the Ads places would show the ‘default Ad’ in position on pages and posts (unless I misunderstood the directions).

In my initial install with ZeroGravity Theme the default Ad showed on the home page, but not on any other pages or posts! (The reverse of what I had expected).

I do have a lot of plugins installed so I did a clean install of wp on a separate subdomain to test SAM with ZeroGravity without any other plugins.

So this morning with the same setup as above, but now on the clean wp install the default Ads (Ads Places) ARE now showing up on on posts and pages but not in the sidebar. So perhaps there was some plugin incompatibility, or maybe I missed something (which could also be the case since I’m new to this).

I can use a widget to get it in the sidebar, so that’s no problem, but the default Ads are still showing on the home page. We don’t want this because our site is a magazine and we only want the cover art displayed on the home page, so we’re keeping Ads to inside pages.

Sorry for such a long reply – just wanted to give you as complete a picture as possible… is there something else I should have done to prevent Ads Places showing on the home page?

Thank you in advance minimus, I do appreciate your time, and love this powerful plugin that you have created!

I have found the cause of the bug. Corrections will be made in the next version.

Wow that was fast minimus! Thank you! ??

In the meantime, for anyone else experiencing this here’s how to get around it:

    Deactivated ‘auto insert’.
Used widgets to put the Ads Places in position.
Created Ads to fill all the Ads Places.

[for anyone who hasn’t yet created an Ad from menu – choose Ads Place – hover over Ads Place – choose “New Ad” – scroll down to ‘show ad only on pages of this type’]

    On the ‘Edit Advertisment’ page:
(Ads Places>Hover over Ads Place>View Ads> Hover over ad> click edit)
choose ‘show ad only on pages of this type’
check all boxes except ‘home page’

With these settings all seems to be working well now minimus, and Ads are rotating beautifully.

Thank you for your time and for creating a great plugin.

    best wishes,

    Ruth
