I’m new to WP and purchased a WP theme from Theme Forest. My host is DreamHost.

I’ve followed the instructions from WP Codex on adding new themes using the administrative panel. It seems pretty easy and straight forward. But when I click the upload, it always times out with either an error message saying my connection was reset and the site may be too busy or a WP failure notice “Are you sure you want to do this? Please try again”.

I’ve tried re-downloading the theme and re-extracting the files. Here’s one thing that keeps coming up when I go to extract the files – I get a message that says “A problem is preventing this folder from being encrypted.” The only way to continue is to choose the option to copy without encryption. I don’t know if that might have a effect?

As you are using a commercial theme, you need to seek support from the theme’s vendors.

Okay… I went to the site and found some trouble shooting guides that helped a lot. I was able to upload the theme manually by using FileZilla.

It appears now in my remote site files where it is supposed to be according to the WP Codex instructions. wp-content/themes

But when I follow the “Selecting the Active Theme” instructions, it doesn’t appear. Everything until that point checks out exactly the way the WP instructions indicate. It’s when I go to appearance-themes, it just isn’t there.

No, really: this is a question for the Theme Developer. It’s a commercial Theme; we can’t help.
