I started a WordPress blog yesterday and it went completely white. After fiddling with it for HOURS, I finally decided to call it quits and had godaddy.com uninstall WordPress from my account.

I woke up this morning, reinstalled WordPress, and got a brand new generic blog.

I really liked the theme I found yesterday and when I tried up use it again, this is the error message I got:

    Downloading install package from https://www.ads-software.com/extend/themes/download/bluebird.2.0.zip.

    Unpacking the package.

    Installing the theme.

    Destination folder already exists. /home/content/56/5675456/html/wp-content/themes/bluebird/

    Theme Install Failed.

Is this a problem I can fix, or is it a problem with the theme?

Also, when I click on manage themes, this theme (bluebird)is under Broken Themes, it says:

The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.

    Name Description
    bluebird Stylesheet is missing.

    Thanks,
    Alicia

use host file manager to delete the folder
    /wp-content/themes/bluebird/
    then install the theme again

looks like sort of an old theme, though – might want to ask author if it will work with 2.9.x wordpress

Hi, I may have a similar issue and thought I’d piggy-back off this post.

    Here’s my situation.
    – I completed an auto install via my cPanel, (I believe that ver was 2.8.6)
    – then, from within my wp admin, I initiated a successful auto upgrade to 2.9.2
    – then, I went to add the new theme “jq”, but received this error msg:

    “Downloading install package from https://www.ads-software.com/extend/themes/download/jq.2.8.zip.
    Unpacking the package.
    Could not copy file /public_html/didasko/blog/wp-content/upgrade/jq.tmp/jq/style.css”

So, I viewed the path and found that there isn’t a folder jq.tmp/ from within upgrade/.
Here’s what’s in my upgrade folder that jq.tmp should have been copied to:
    “blog/wp-content/upgrade/wordpress-2.9.2/wordpress/wp-content/wp-includes”

And no, jp.tmp is not in the child path of wp-content

    Any helps would be appreciated!

You know what, since I’m able to download the jq2.8.zip, I’m going to try and install it manuall to where it was trying to go in the first place. Will let you know the outcome.

it will try to create that folder – your server permissions must not allow it

either install theme manually or temporarily chmod 777 /wp-content and /upgrade and install theme
be sure and chmod back to 755

I see. I’ll go ahead and temporarily change permission and do a re-install.

    Thx “samboll”.

    Will report back.

Okay, that was weird. I chmod, than tried an auto upgrade…no success.
Then, I tried to install manually..no success.
Without removing the the new theme installation, I went back into my wp-admin/appearance and did an install of the theme in its zip format.

    Success!

Have gone back and chmod to 755.

What was weird is that when I completed an WP version upgrade to 2.9.6, the installed folders set itself up in child-parent folders, as wordpress 2.9.6 than all the install folders/files.
Now, since I auto-install the theme as a zip file from within wp-admin, the WP 2.9.6 folders are no longer there.

Thought I shine more light on the subject.

    Thank you again,
    Monica

Hi I just installed a new theme – the client machine 11 and it says it is a broken theme…
this is the message that appears on my “appearance page”

The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.
    Name Description
    The-Client-Machine-11 Stylesheet is missing.

I tried to install again but it doesn’t saying a folder like this already exists. HOw do I erase this one and install it again?

    tks,
    Diana

    Hello Experts,

I am trying to change the theme, when I tried to download new theme. This is what I get…

    Installing Theme: All Green 1.0.2

    Downloading install package from https://www.ads-software.com/extend/themes/download/all-green.1.0.2.zip…

After that nothing happens. Any clue?

    Thanks,
    Sanjay
