Theme is disaster, now what?

I purchased a theme that had good ratings, but I soon discovered that the support is terrible. The theme came with Master Slider and Visual Composer, which I am unable to update myself as it was purchased together with the theme. The developer is apparently supposed to update them for me, but they haven’t done so, and I am unable to work on my site! I have contacted them for help numerous times with no reply. What to do in this situation? Swallow my loss and buy another theme? Or is there a way to work around this?
Examples of site not working right: Visual Composer elements cannot be edited, Media library cannot be accessed, Master Slider won’t save changes etc.
