Theme is missing images and header I think

Hi, I really need some help. I have been working on this blog site for a month and was just about finished and was cleaning it up, when it just went kaput.

I have to admit I was playing around a lot in the files trying to create a front-page in Matheson with a right sidebar and I had it perfect except for some weird text in a strange spot on the front page header I could not figure out how to get rid of, and in trying to fix it I screwed everything up! grrrrr!

I don’t even know where to turn next. I got rid of my child folder and started over, with a clean style.css and a clean functions.php file. I deactivated my plugins, emptied the cache.
I deactivated Matheson and when I try it out in other themes it appears something major is missing. Does anyone have any ideas? My site is
