I bought a WordPress theme that came with a bunch of sample post pages that I could edit and they were all set to published. So its taken me 6 months or more to edit those pages with my own content. To my surprise, I now have source URL’s of the sample post pages that came with the theme. I’m curious to know if this is affecting my site ranking?

The source URL comes up sample post pages and redirects to the new post page I edited as a result of creating a new slug. Does the source URL have any SEO significance in this redirect process? My guess now is that I should have redirected the sample theme post pages (source URL’s) to my home page and should have just created a fresh new page? I wish I could attach a screenshot.

    REDIRECTIONS: – OPTIONS

What would you guys recommend I set these options to?

I’m not entirely sure I understand what you are asking. The target in a redirect is what matters. Why are you redirecting to the home page and then creating a new page? What do you mean by options?

    Sorry for the confusion.

The above sentence was only referring to what I should have done from the onset with the theme out of the box instead of editing post pages that were already set to published.

The target URL is all that matters. Thanks! understood.

Why are you redirecting to the home page and then creating a new page?
    Disregard this question.

What do you mean by options?

When you want to edit a redirect you are given these 2 options
    QUERY PARAMETERS – OPTIONS
    REDIRECTIONS: – OPTIONS
I was hoping to get some advice about these options…that’s it.

You pick the options that are appropriate to your redirect – I can’t say which is right or wrong for your site. More information about them can be found here:

You can always change them afterwards if they don’t fit your needs.
