• Hi All,

This is the first time I’ve created a child theme, and it has been working out well for me except for one issue: I cannot for the life of me figure out where I need to make changes to change the main body and navigation font for the site. Can anyone help?

The font that comes with the Sueva Free theme is called “Abel”, and looking through the stylesheet of the original theme I can see where that is being used, but when I try to make changes in my child theme’s stylesheet, those changes are not reflected on the site, so I must be doing it wrong.

I would be most grateful if someone could help me locate all the places I need to make the change to be able to control the font (and perhaps even font color) of the navigation bar and all text around the site (sidebar widgets, etc).

(I do apologise if I have posted this in the wrong forum. The theme’s support page – https://www.ads-software.com/support/theme/suevafree – does not seem to have a forum showing as the page is empty, so I am just not sure exactly where best to get advice.)

    Thank you!

The blog I need help with is: https://laurenware.me

  • Hi there,

I believe that changing the font family in your Child theme’s custom CSS would do the trick.. but the other way to change your google fonts is by using the following plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-google-fonts/

This plugin will make it easier for you to change and add google fonts.

    Hope that helps

Thank you, vincidesigner, with the Google Fonts plugin, I was able to change the body text–finally! I was going to try for Helvetica Neue, which doesn’t seem to be on that list (?) but there are so many fonts, I’m sure I’ll find something.

However, with some playing around I am still not quite able to change the navigation/menu bar font at all. In fact, I’m realising that nothing I do in my child theme’s stylesheet makes any difference whatsoever. Is there something I’m missing about how to make changes in the child theme stylesheet that are reflected on the site?

(Perhaps a more specific quesion would be: how DO I change the font family in my child theme’s custom CSS; and are there any overrides or something that the parent theme would have to block changes made here that might explain why my changes aren’t being implemented? (Though I really do imagine it is me not changing the right thing, or enough things.))

    Thanks!

Your issue had already been discussed, check this thread out:

Hope that will solve it for you. Good luck
