Need help with Custom CSS

  • Hi All,

    I’m a newbie to WordPress CSS. Tesseract theme.

    Here’s the temp site: https://954.29e.myftpupload.com/

    I’m trying to make the following changes but for the life of me I can’t seem to locate where to make the changes.

    1. Increase the logo size
    2. Move the header menu to align right of the page
    3. Remove the entire footer menu and bar
    4. Add and center copyright line. With the current theme, I wanted to add ‘All Rights Reserved’ but when I did that, the a line break made part of the text move to a 2nd line.

    also…are there restrictions on the type and size of image we choose as logo?

    I placed the code
    .site-logo {
    width: 300px !important;
    }

    in the CSS but it didn’t work. Should I add something in function.php to activate this change?

    I have same issue.
    When I tried to add codes to sidebar.php it didn’t work for me. Have to be careful with adding codes as they might mess up original files and therefor you’ll stuck with syntax error(meaning that coding files are not working properly). This can be fixed by connecting your host with fillezilla and replacing original file or using child theme, which I didn’t use.

    Maybe Sam has fix for getting sidebar to appear on our pages after installing plugin.

    thank you for your fast response , i tried messing around with the side bar after reading your earlier comment about working with that , luckily i always copy and paste the original in the note pad before i change anything

    when i search about adding the sidebar people often write about a process that starts with adding a file named functions.php , but to where ? on which folder ?

    This is what I have found about add sidebar. I recommend having copy of codes ready as it might make error when adding.

    thanks mackica , i’m retiring for today ,ill check it out tomorrow i actually think i made some great progress , check out my blog page

    i found out that on every page in the template on the right side under PAGE ATTRIBUTES there’s an option for a right sidebar , choose that , then the widgets start to show when you customize in appearance

    what i also did is went to customize and deselected the blog page from being the posts page and there it is , i now have a sidebar to the right on my blog page and i managed to get the description to be shown as well by adding a ” post loop” widget in the row

    I’m working on my localhost currently…
    u wont be able to view it.

    I would be very grateful if someone could help me.
    The theme setup allows you to select whether or not you want a menu to show in the footer.
    I have selected none but always get a duplicate of the header menu in the footer.
    I would like to turn the menu off in the footer.

    I managed to remove it by inspecting its element to find its ID/Class.

    Does anyone have any insight has to lay a color behind your text but change the opacity? I want to keep a color but be able to still see the image behind so certain text doesnt just look like a big text box?

    Does anyone know how to change the font size and increase the width of the font to the full width stretched to match my page content of the tesseract theme. I changed the page content width from full width to FW Stretched, but I have not found how to change the menu font size and width. Can anyone help me with this please.

    Do you mean the Nav Menu at the top?
