• Hi everyone

For my new site I have a very peculiar design in mind. I need a menu with 3 large sections on top, a background with my picture in the middle, and a menu with 5 sections at the bottom. Ideally, these sections would also unfold accordion style when rolled over.
When going on each page, same design, except that the background image would change for another one and the text of each page would be boxed on top of it.

Here is the look I want to achieve

Now, this is wayyyy over my league. I am open to pay a WordPress designer to re-work a theme for me, but my budget is rather tight for this project. A good solution would then be to use your smart minds and helpful tips to go as far as possible by myself; and then hire a designer if stuck to complete the task. This way I would learn and limit the costs.
First thing first, the choice of theme to rework. I have chosen Zalive. Do you think it’s a good base for what I want to achieve? Other considered are:
    -Customizr
    -Discover
    All in their free version.

Then, a bit clueless on how to rework it. To start, I’d love your thoughts on how to rework in order to create the top menu: 3 larges sections with different colors, and if possible accordions menus…

Forever grateful for any nuggest of Wisdom, and it’s good karma lol

    THEME COFFEE MONKEY

You might have better luck posting in jobs.wordpress.net than you would here. ??

    Hi laurentlanglais

By accordion I guessing you mean’t to say slider – right?

This shouldn’t be too hard – you would have a slider plugin for the top tabs and just list the pages at the bottom. The zalive theme seems to already have most of the things you require so it is a good place to start. Maybe I got this wrong and I am simplifying it too much so let me know and I will advice further.

    Hi Salsaturation
    Thanks for your post

Well, the types of menu I’d like are the one seen on this site
    https://www.johnmaxwell.com/

Apologies, I’ve posted yesterday a slightly old design. The definitive one is this one
    https://img199.imageshack.us/img199/2282/ftuf.jpg

So it’s a 3 menu type of things actually.

As for re-working Zalive into the design/look I want, here is the list of steps I need to achieve:
-transform the top menu into one with 3 buttons, each of different colours, and each with an accordion menu
-put another menu on top of it, that is not “boxed” and does not need to unfold into sub sections
-increase the space used for the central image.
-Stop the slider thing and have a large, fixed image instead
-This image however needs to be a different one when going from home page to other pages (but not in a sliding way)
-transform the bottom menu into one with 5 sections, with the colours/typo I’ve designed
-create another menu on the very top with the info I have put on my design page
-find the widget for the accordion thing

I have very limited knowledge into css and html, hence my post…Thanks in any case

    Answer below after >>>>

transform the top menu into one with 3 buttons, each of different colours, and each with an accordion menu >>>> by accordion you just mean a dropdown / mega menu? not actually an accordion transition?

-put another menu on top of it, that is not “boxed” and does not need to unfold into sub sections >>>> Straight forward enough – 1st of three menu widget areas

-increase the space used for the central image.
-Stop the slider thing and have a large, fixed image instead >>>> In this case no need to use a slider – just assign a featured image as the background

-This image however needs to be a different one when going from home page to other pages (but not in a sliding way) >>>> As per above

-transform the bottom menu into one with 5 sections, with the colours/typo I’ve designed >>>> Straight forward

-find the widget for the accordion thing >>>> As per above you are refering to a dropdown / mega menu – right?

The menu I’m referring too is the one seen on this site

    https://www.johnmaxwell.com/

You’ll see when you roll over.

I’m sure those things are straighforward, for example to create the bottom menu with the right design, but I haven’t got a clue on how to start. So I guess I’m gonna have to create separate posts for each demand.

What theme are you using? You should post on the sub-forum for the specific theme.

    (@laurentlanglais)

Zalive. Didn’t know there was a specific sub-forum for this theme…

Yep, all themes on www.ads-software.com have their own sub-forum – in this case, here:

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/theme/zalive#postform

I’d also strongly suggest you use a child theme so that your modifications are not lost when the theme is updated.

Many thanks, that is useful to know…

    Hi laurentlanglais

Did you manage to figure this or do you still want some help / sample code?

    Thread Starter laurentlanglais

    (@laurentlanglais)

Nah, still absolutely clueless to be honest!

    @laurentlanglais

I know it has been awhile – just wondering if you ever managed to get the design done?
