I selected a background image by using the side bar wizard; but it is ONLY visible when I reveal the edit bar. How can I fix this? I have no idea on how to mess around with CSS, but I am willing. Just a very raw novice.
Thanks so much to all who respond!

I’m not sure I understand what you mean by this. Can you provide a link to your site so we can see?

When I click to edit the theme, then I see the background. But when I go to my site, it’s not visible.

Hmm, that’s odd. I’m going to take it step-by-step, if that’s OK.

So you go to Appearance > Background from the admin dashboard, and you either upload an image or select one from the media library. After the image is uploaded, you see it in the Preview field at the top, then you click the blue Save changes at the bottom. Then no error message, but the image doesn’t appear as your background.

The one thing I could see that could possibly be preventing the image from appearing is that it looks like you’re using a cache plugin, Batcache. I don’t know how it works; is there an option to clear or refresh the cache? Have you tried deactivating the plugin to see if your image appears?

I have no idea what a batcache is. It’s probably part of the theme that someone else designed, not me. I just chose it because it was free. I like everything else about it, though I would like to upload a graphic of my own choosing for the top picture as well as getting the background image to show up outside of the preview.

I don’t see that selection in that theme (refresh cache).

I was using the theme wizard, and using YOUR steps – I got it to work! I didn’t know how to use the dashboard. Thanks!!!

Great, congratulations, I see it, too!

I just noticed that your site is on wordpress.com. These forums are for www.ads-software.com sites (sites which are self-hosted on an independent server). The wordpress.com sites work a little differently, so the advice you get here might not match up exactly with what your site needs to get fixed. If you have further questions about your site, you should look on the wordpress.com support page or post a question on the wordpress.com support forum.

It’s the fine details that will mess with you. I never noticed the difference, Bruin. Thanks for pointing it out to me. Thankfully, there WAS a similarity for this time :).
