Interesting issue: I can’t click in the search field!

Is it because there’s nothing to search thus far? Just noticed! So weird!

Actually, that’s because of that big negative margin you have here:

header img {
    box-shadow: none !important;
    margin-bottom: -55px !important;
    margin-top: -50px !important;
}

That’s covering up the search box. Looks like it’ll work with -20px.

Changed it to -1, still not clickable.

Oh crud, it’s that pesky navigation now – change the CSS for that element to this:

#nav-search {
    float: right;
    margin-top: 0;
    position: relative;
    z-index: 10;
}

You da woman! I even got to put the margin at -50 again and I can still select the search field!

(Even looked up how to remove the link from the header image myself!)

I thought the link in the image was problematic because it extended up into that menu bar.

What do you think?

I don’t think the link is the problem – I think it’s that the image is full width so when it’s on top of the search box via the negative margin, it’s blocking the search box. You can’t really put the image under the other stuff or it’s invisible.

On possible solution is to make the header image narrower – so then it would not block the nav or the search box… Or you could possibly put that header image as a background image – that might be the easiest –

Try:

.site-header {
   background-image:url("https://www.gadgetfit.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Header10.png");
}

How could I change the color of the search bar when someone clicks on it?

In Chrome on Windows, it’s orange. In Chrome on OSX, it’s blue.

Ideally, I would make it the same color as the color palette. ??
