• This site recently migrated to another server. Everything seemed fine until last night. This morning when I tried to log in, I got the below error. To log in, I disabled the theme, logged in and re-enabled the theme. I’m able to update posts/pages and other items. I’m unable to update any plugins. I was able to at least fix the log in problem by hard coding the username and api key for the theme in class envato protected api. I’m still unable to update plugins. I’ve checked the wp-content/themes/cacoon/inc/pixelentity-themes-updater/class-pixelentity-themes-updater.php file and can’t locate the error.

Any help provided will be greatly appreciated

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘new’ (T_NEW) in /home/go5y6ocs3qga/public_html/wp-content/themes/cacoon/inc/pixelentity-themes-updater/class-pixelentity-themes-updater.php on line 33

    Thank you

  • If it was me I’d kill that theme by renaming it or switching to a more generic theme for a little while. Twenty Seventeen should be fine temporarily. I’d then try the plugins update and such. If that doesn’t work right still I think I’d next reach out to my host for help.

You might also take a look at your PHP version and throttle back to PHP 5.6 for a bit. WordPress and most of its plugins and themes run fine on PHP 5.6 but start acting up on the newer, actually better PHP versions like 7.2.

I really suspect that PHP version might be the issue or else your error logs might tell you more and your host should be able to help.

    The site itself looks fine.

You might also reach out to the support for that theme itself… https://themeforest.net/item/cocoon-modern-woocommerce-wordpress-theme/22220527/support
