Theme upgrade executable zip file issue

My client is having this issue:
He downloaded the upgrade to your vantage. The file came as an executable zip that he currently has in his downloads file. He also upgraded the theme through WordPress which wiped out all his customization of course, but NOW when you hit Theme options… there is a php error. My question is this: WHERE does he PUT the executable zip for the theme? Where does it have to be executed from? Within the Vantage theme folder?
