• I absolutely love this theme: Papyrus 1.0 which is rustic looking and will work perfectly for a client. You can see it smacked up just for example here: https://aesanimaltraps.com/

I want to make the beige papyrus wider. It is way too narrow for the content that I want to place on the website. I have tweaked every number of XXpx wide throughout the entire site. The stylesheet, index, every single file. NOTHING adjusted it. I got the content box to increase but then the text just runs off the papyrus. I even went in and replaced the image with a new wider image. NOPE.

It is somewhere in the code where I do not understand it is blocking my typically effective adjustments.

  • I’m sorry but your chosen theme is not released under GPL. Non GPL products are not welcome in the WordPress community. Official WordPress policy states that all plugins and themes that are publicly released are required to adhere to https://www.ads-software.com/about/gpl/

Any support requests for non-GPL products are usually ignored, in the interests of supporting the community and its freedoms.

I had no idea it non-GPL. Until your post I did not even know what that meant. Why would anyone ignore any posts asking for help on any topic? If it is all about freedom>>? I should be free to ask anything I want. if someone is the type of person to put me out of my misery and help a fellow web designer they should not care what license the theme uses. I cannot reach the author – they are no where to be found. I just happen to love the theme and I am truly for the first time… completely stumped.

Certainly you can. Just not on these forums. Official WordPress policy states that all plugins and themes that are publicly released are required to adhere to https://www.ads-software.com/about/gpl/

    Your theme states:

By downloading and using this theme, you agree to the following terms:

    – You are NOT allowed to sell this design.
    – A link back to SK Design Studio (either modified or unmodified).
    – You can use this design for personal or commercial projects.
    – You can modify, translate or distribute

The first two points of which are in direct contravention of GPL which does not place any limits on your usage.

Another option you could consider is hiring someone to carry out the work for you.

This is not about the Themes license. This is about WordPress. This is about me learning how to tweak a theme – pick any different theme. I am challenged to find a way to adjust a theme’s width. I gave a link to my site and specifically installed that them for someone to see the active code. This direction will be used in the future for this theme and any GPL theme that I use.

Forget the link. Forget the theme name. This was my first attempt tp reach out for help and know I know why I always am hesitant to ask for help. It is responses like this.

Then I suggest you use another theme – perhaps one from https://www.ads-software.com/extend/themes/ – and post a new topic asking for assistance.
