    Hello,

Ok, I’m trying to stay calm here, although this whole mess is horrible.

While trying to figure out another issue, I switched back to the WordPress standard theme “Twenty Twelve” for a few minutes, just to make sure my theme wasn’t causing the mentioned issue.

When I then switched back to my original theme, it wouldn’t trigger anymore.
Only a link and a blank site appears.

When I go to the “Editor” all the files are still there and they’re up to date and working.

I downloaded my original theme via FTP, renamed it and tried to upload it via WordPress Dashboard, but I get the exact same problem then.
One thing I have to admit is that the function.php of this theme is empty as it’s a child-theme. But even then, I should be able to re-activate it. I’ve done so previously without any issues.

Why on earth is my theme not triggering?
    How is that even possible?

What am I supposed to do now?

I really, really hope someone can help me.

P.S.: I’m not using a standard theme, but one that I coded myself.
Have been running this theme successfully for 6 years now. Never had any issues.
Put sooooo much work into it, cannot afford to lose it now.

How can I get my theme back to work?

Your site opens fine for me.

Try flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches. Not just your browser, but any op cache or content network cache as well such as Cloudflare. If your host provider has a “Purge Varnish” option or if you can ask your provider to flush memcache on your server. If you are using SiteLock, manage your caching there

@t-p Sure it does. I had no choice but to switch to the “Twenty Twelve” theme for now or otherwise no content at all would show up …. ??

    Okay.

When I then switched back to my original theme, it wouldn’t trigger anymore.

Any error message? Check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message and see why it’s failing. If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that. If you cannot find error logs or if you don’t find any helpful info in the error logs, try Enabling debugging

I was able to resolve this more or less by just using the parent theme and then replacing all the files with my child theme. The parent theme isn’t being updated anymore, so I don’t really need it anymore.

Still have some minor layout issues, but I can work on those.

However, I still have no idea why this happened and am very worried to ever change my layout again and if it’s just for testing purpose (I was checking high CPU usage and what’s causing it).

    Thank you anyway! ??

A child theme will not run without the parent.

    Of course.
The parent theme was always there.
I haven’t changed a thing, only quickly switched to the standard WordPress theme and then switched back to my own theme and then it didn’t work.
That just doesn’t make any sense. ??

    Glad to know it :
